Arctic Design of Sweden brings innovative Swedish products to Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan, April 18, 2018 – Swedish business incubators Krenova and Uminova Expression will hold Arctic Design of Sweden, an exhibit that features creative, high-quality works by upcoming and established designers from Sweden’s northern region, on May 10th and 11th. The exhibit will be held at the Embassy of Sweden in Tokyo as part of the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Japan.

The event will put 20 northern Swedish designers in the spotlight and introduce their products to the Japanese market. With unique items such as lanterns crafted out of reindeer antlers, a cutting board combined with a mortar and pestle, and an outdoor bathtub, the exhibit will be a showcase of innovative, eye-catching Swedish design.

Attendance on May 10th (Thursday) is strictly by invite only. On this day, Swedish-Japanese personality LiLiCo will serve as emcee and moderator for on-stage panels such as Q&A sessions with the exhibitors, as well as talks by keynote speakers Ola Rune and Jin Kuramoto.

Ola Rune is the co-founder of the multi-awarded Swedish architectural firm Claesson Koivisto Rune, which has had numerous projects in Japan. Jin Kuramoto, who has extensive experience working with Scandinavian designers, is the founder of his own design studio, which has won several awards for its clear, innovative approach to product design.

Afterwards, guests are invited to enjoy a night of networking and mingling over light refreshments.

On May 11th, the exhibit will be open for public viewing.
